A large Samarkand suzani, 1970’s

Suzanis from Uzbekistan are named after the places they were made in, for example - Samarkand, Bukhara, Shakhrisabz, Tashkent, Nurata, Lakai. Each region has its own style in stitching, design and colours.

I love the teapots on this one! There are a few black pen marks dotted throughout this suzani (photographed) The artist usually draws out the design in pen before starting the embroidery - not sure why they needed to use a thick black pen though!! (hence the slight discount, but I don’t think it effects the overall look of the suzani)

341 x 245cm

Please note: This is a vintage item and you should expect to see evidence of wear, potentially some reparations and slight ‘imperfections’, which I believe add to the character and charm of it.
